A LETTER FROM OUR DIRECTOR

Year after year, our commitment to building a healthier, more equitable, and civically engaged society continues to drive us.

This past year at Volunteers in Medicine Berkshires was marked by significant innovation and expansion, most notably with the opening of our new location in Pittsfield. This milestone has allowed us to extend our reach and deepen our impact within the community, a story we are excited to share in the New Care Center section of this report.

In 2024, our dedicated team of providers delivered care to 1,643 individuals living at or below 300% of the federal poverty line—individuals who otherwise might not have access to essential healthcare services. Our efforts spanned a broad spectrum of care including optometry, orthopedics, various therapies (behavioral, physical, and speech), comprehensive reproductive health, dental care, and even pediatric palliative support. We also provided crucial transportation services, ensuring that healthcare accessibility barriers are minimized. In More than Medicine, we detail these initiatives that go beyond traditional medicine.

Nearly all of these services were made possible through the contributions of Our Generous Donors and the invaluable time and talent provided by our volunteers, who we celebrate in The Power of Volunteerism. Your unwavering support has been the cornerstone of our success, enabling us to offer 9,290 instances of free access to healthcare professionals this year alone.

Each instance has a story, and in A Story of Hope, we highlight one family’s experience to illustrate the profound impact of accessible healthcare. This story reinforces our belief that everyone deserves the right to a healthy life and underscores the resounding benefits that accessible healthcare brings to our community, improving lives and strengthening societal bonds.

Finally, in Your Dollars at Work, you will find a transparent overview of how every donation has been utilized to foster health and hope within our community. This accountability is our commitment to you, ensuring that your generosity effectively transforms lives and sustains our mission.

Thank you for playing a pivotal role in sustaining our mission and enhancing our impact. It is through the generosity of supporters like you that we continue to make a difference.
